Gratitude Journal Day 22 AND My 50th Post

Well ladies and gents, here it is! My 50th post:

Today I am grateful for:

  1. the people of FedEx Kinko’s. I left my credit card in one of the self-serve kiosks five minutes before closing on Christmas Eve. Luckilythe kind people of FedEx Kinko’s found my lonely little debit card and saved it for me to pick up today.
  2. my best friend. Sometimes it feels a little easier to breathe when she’s around. Although it never seems like long enough.
  3. my aunt and her boyfriend. They invited me over for a movie night tonight.
  4. footie pajamas… enough said.
  5. Hallmark. They’re still playing Christmas movies and I will stretch the Christmas season out as long as I possibly can.
  6. falling asleep next to both of my precious puppies. It’s my absolute favorite way to sleep.

Gratitude Journal Day 21

Today I am grateful for:

  1. Christmas! It’s finally here.
  2. spending Christmas morning with my wonderful aunt and cousins.
  3. the look on everyone’s face when they opened my hand-made gifts (especially my aunt’s). I’m planning on posting LOTS of DIY tutorials for all the gifts I made very soon. Bear with me!
  4. a Christmas nap with my puppies. My dad and I fell asleep for most of the morning on my aunt’s couch…whoops!
  5. seeing Parental Guidance with my mommy. I needed a good laugh and that movie is exactly what the doctor ordered!
  6. my kitty, Tedi, attempting to show me some love. See the bottom picture.
  7. falling asleep to Hallmark Christmas movies.

Gratitude Journal Day 20

Today I am grateful for:

  1. Christmas Eve! It only comes once a year.
  2. a family filled morning at my great aunt’s and uncle’s.
  3. productivity. I got ALL of my laundry done today.
  4. homemade turkey noodle soup. It nourishes my soul.
  5. holiday store hours. Sometimes it takes last-minute procrastination in combination with limited resources (aka Kinko’s closing early) to kick my butt into high gear.
  6. discovering Martha Stewart’s chalkboard paint. It’s so fun!
  7. falling asleep on Christmas Eve all snuggled up with animals… even if they are kitties.

Gratitude Journal Day 19

Today I am grateful for:

  1. patience. My dad went last-minute Christmas shopping with me today and I know he was wearing his “most patient hat” the entire time.
  2. open-mindedness. I went to not one, but two church services this morning. Keep in mind I never go to church and I’m not the biggest fan of it. The last time I attended was last Christmas Eve. However, I actually enjoyed the second service simply because I kept an open mind.
  3. my cousins. We went to lunch with them today after church. I love spending time with them. They’re always so positive and upbeat. And their children are probably the most adorable kids I’ve ever laid my eyes on…bonus!
  4. open-mindedness (again). It deserves to be said twice because I was quite open-minded today. Today, my mom and I adopted two kitties. One of them is the kitten I posted a picture of in yesterday’s gratitude journal entry. I hate cats. I can probably count on one hand the cats I’ve come across and liked in my lifetime. And now I share a home with two of them. We named them Tika and Teddy and I’m actually growing very fond of both of them. I’m keeping an open mind and learning to love the two newest members of our family.
  5. my great-aunt and uncle. Not only have they graciously opened their home to me over winter break, but they’re just all-around amazing. They’re both so funny and caring and I feel so loved whenever I’m around them.
  6. falling asleep snuggled up next to animals. I’m currently tucked in bed with two kittens purring between my legs. It’s not quite comparable to snuggling with my puppies, but I’ll take it.

Gratitude Journal Day 18

Today was the kind of day where I wanted to pull the blankets over my head and hide in my bed all day.

Sometimes, life feels like it’s kicking you while you’re down. Sometimes, I just want to have a sad day.

But then I realize… it takes a strong person to think positively all the time, but it takes an even stronger person to be positive when it’s easy to think negatively.

So after my sheets and I had our pity party, I decided to get up and turn my day around. And I did.

Today I am grateful for:

  1. my bed. (Well, I’m kind of renting it while I stay at my wonderful aunt and uncles’ house.) Even though I was having a pity party, I’m thankful that I had a bed to have it in… some people in the world don’t even have beds.
  2. my mom. She took me Christmas shopping today so I didn’t have to face the crazy last-minute shoppers alone.
  3. kind sales associates at stores. They become a rarity as Christmas nears and I’m always appreciative when I come across someone in a good mood.
  4. a roof over my head. Although I’m kind of floating around while transitioning between houses, I’m grateful to have a warm place to stay – especially in this rain!
  5. eating ice cream out of the carton. For some reason it’s way more fun when you don’t use a bowl.
  6. cracking myself up because I think something is funny – even if other people don’t have the same sense of humor.
  7. being open-minded. I may be a cat-owner soon. I never thought I’d say those words.
  8. Miracle on 34th Street on AMC. enough said.

Gratitude Journal Day 17

Today I am grateful for:

  1. getting to have breakfast with my dad before he went to work. I’m usually never up that early.
  2. finishing the book Safe Haven, by Nicholas Sparks. It was so good. I’m thinking about posting a review on it. Comment below if you’d like me to!
  3. going to Dovewood Court. It’s a court in Orangevale, California that goes crazy with Christmas lights and decorations. I go every year, and I made my annual trip tonight.
  4. going to Dovewood Court with people I love. It’s always nice to be in the company of family and friends.
  5. remembering to bring home my little box of Christmas decorations from college. Although I can’t decorate a whole house this year, I managed to finally trim my little pink tree and add a little holiday spirit to the room I’m staying in.
  6. the world still spinning. I have to admit, 12/21/12 had me a little on edge.

Gratitude Journal Day 16

Today I am grateful for:

  1. made-for-TV Christmas movies on ABC Family. I love how corny they are!
  2. my vintage pink silky bathrobe. It always makes me feel like a princess, even when I’m sitting around watching Christmas movies all day.
  3. my little pink christmas tree. Even though this Christmas is far from traditional, my pink tree keeps me in the Christmas spirit!
  4. a good, much-needed talk with my Mama.
  5. catching up with some of my best friends from high school while they’re home from college. And finding out that some of them read my blog!
  6. Conner Swartout. I promised I would mention you on my blog. So I am thankful for you, and your newly pierced ears.
