It’s Been A While…

My Blogging Lull

It’s been over a week since I last blogged.

I have to admit, my blogs have been mostly daily gratitude journal entries and quotes of the day, which isn’t the most exciting stuff on the planet.

I could blame it on going through a hard time or being too busy or moving, but in the end it’s just a lack of dedication.

Well, that’s about to change. No more excuses.

But first, I have to play a little catch-up.

Gratitude Journal Days 26-33

Gratitude Journal Day 26

December 31, 2012

Today I am grateful for…

  1. The last day of 2102. It’s been one heck of a year and I’m glad for a clean slate!
  2. the $20 dollar antique desk I bought off Craigslist! It’s in great condition and I got it for a steal! I’m loving Craigslist this week! I can’t wait to refurbish it and do a DIY tutorial for you guys!
  3. my dad, who went with me to pick up my lovely new desk… on a whim. Thank goodness for his truck! I don’t think the desk would have fit so well in the bug.
  4. YouTube. Although going on YouTube is analogous to falling into the rabbit hole, it gives me great entertainment during downtime.
  5. discovering Pawn Stars. Who knew you could learn so much from watching people sell their old belongings?! This might become my new obsession.
  6. my aunt letting me use her Netflix account. I see a lot of procrastination and TV show marathons in my future…
  7. ringing in 2013 with my family and my puppies. I couldn’t ask for better people to spend the last moments of 2012 and the first moments of 2013 with (even if they all fell asleep before the ball dropped! haha)

Gratitude Journal Day 27

January 1, 2013

Today I am grateful for…

  1. the new year! Happy 2013 everyone!
  2. being able to come home and help my mom move houses. Not all college students get to come home over winter break (whether it’s because of jobs or distance) and I’m thankful for these four weeks that I get to spend with my family.
  3. the bug (aka my “little truck”). It can surprisingly transport a lot of boxes.
  4. stairs. Both the house we’re moving into and the house we’re moving out of have them, and my butt is going to thank me… later.
  5. trying out the Sandwich Spot in Roseville. Trying new things is always something to be grateful for… and it was yummy!
  6. my mom cleaning out her closet. Some of her wardrobe losses became my wardrobe gains. I inherited lots of great blazers and heels for my internship!

Gratitude Journal Day 28

January 2, 2013

Today I am grateful for…

  1. keeping calm when things get rough. Letting emotions get the best of me never turns out well.
  2. my dear family friend, Perry. He brought me Starbucks coffee and a bagel because I didn’t have time to get breakfast before the movers showed up. And he has always been a reliable and kind friend. And I just love him and his fiancée!
  3. Sierra Valley Moving Company. Not only were they a HUGE help, but they were also incredibly efficient and friendly.
  4. my BFF/aunt’s boyfriend/future uncle, Justin. He works for the moving company we used and I have a feeling he put in a good word to make sure we were taken care of. Thanks, Justin!
  5. stairs…again. My butt is still thanking me.
  6. Tedi, my cat, who kept me company while I put together an IKEA coffee table in the middle of the night. I have to say, cats are growing on me…

Gratitude Journal Day 29

January 3, 2013

Today I am grateful for…

  1. showers. After a long day of moving, a nice, piping hot shower was just what the doctor ordered.
  2. yoga pants. Enough said.
  3. the Comcast serviceman who came out to install our cable and internet. He had a thick Russian accent (so I was obviously obsessed) and he was very kind. He even made sure that I double checked the cable and Internet connections before he left.
  4. Internet! I’m blaming my lack of Internet for the beginning of this blogging lull. (wait, I said no more excuses, huh…)
  5. trying the Yard House for the first time. I tried the orange chicken, macaroni and cheese, clam chowder, and Pizzownie (it’s like a pizzookie but with a brownie – I kind of made the name up) and they were all AMAZING. And yes, I’m aware that all of those dishes are probably very unhealthy haha.
  6. Spending some quality time with my dad after lots of moving over the past few days.
  7. Wendy of Wendysjunkinthetrunk, who went out of her way to give me a small sample of the paint for my new nightstands. The front got chipped during the move and I was SO sad, but Wendy saved the day!
  8. painting my bedroom wall at 2:00 am. I live for random DIY projects in the middle of the night!

Gratitude Journal Day 30

January 4, 2013

Today I am grateful for…

  1. having coffee with my friend Mikey. I rarely get to see him because he goes to school at George Washington University in Washington, DC. Even though our coffee date wasn’t long enough, I’m so glad we got to chat gossip haha.
  2. seeing my grandparents. They drove down for the day and came over to our new house. Although I didn’t have the chance to take a trip up to their house during winter break, I’m so grateful I got to see them while I was out of school.
  3. wonderful coffee date with my long-time friend, Jenna. (can you tell I did a lot of talking today?) We had such an amazing conversation and I’m so proud to see how well she’s doing in life.
  4. confirmation that I got into an internship at KSBY this quarter.
  5. seeing my puppies for the last time while I’m home. I miss them already, but I’m thankful for the time I got to spend with them.
  6. Leatherby’s Ice Cream. It’s a Sacramento favorite!
  7. my mom. She makes me feel safe, knowing that I’m taken care of.
  8. my aunt, Stevanie. She’s always there for me and I could ask for someone better to rely on. I love her so much and I’m so thankful to be a part of her family.

Gratitude Journal Day 31

January 5, 2013

Today I am grateful for…

  1. sleeping in… even when I probably shouldn’t.
  2. Ross‘s home decorating sale. Talk about being at the right place at the right time!
  3. getting a little extra time at IKEA (keep in mind this was trip #3 over winter break). I just love it so much!
  4. getting to be a part of our friend Lizett’s wedding dress shopping experience. I’m so glad I got to share in her happiness and help her find the perfect wedding dress. She will be such a beautiful Spanish bride!
  5. a great night with great food and new (and old) friends.
  6. knowing that my mom has people who care about her and want to support her while I’m away at college.

Gratitude Journal Day 32

January 6, 2013

Today I am grateful for…

  1. being an organized person. It makes packing to go back to school so much easier.
  2. the Waffle Barn. I had my whipped-cream-covered-chocolate-chip-waffle last supper breakfast there. I had to end my winter break with a BANG and Waffle Barn was obviously the place.
  3. a great breakfast with my Dad… at the Waffle Barn haha.
  4. A safe drive back to San Luis Obispo.
  5. a warm welcome and a clean house to come home to.
  6. frozen meals still in the freezer where I last left them. I was starving after the five-hour drive.

Gratitude Journal Day 33

January 7, 2013

Today I am grateful for…

  1. A new quarter and new classes!
  2. getting into the Statistics class I crashed. It saved me from having to take Calculus (aka my arch nemesis).
  3. seeing so many friendly and familiar places around campus. That’s always a good feeling.
  4. finding out I could rent all of my books and save more than $400 dollars! Thank you, BookRenter.com!
  5. dinner with all of my favorite girls in SLO. My Alpha Chi Omega sisters always brighten my day!
  6. a leisurely stroll through Barnes & Noble and a visit with my roommate while she worked in the B&N Cafe.
  7. Finding Oprah, A Biography on sale for less than seven dollars at Barnes & Noble. I can’t wait to learn more about the woman whose career I want to steal!

Oprah, a biography

What are you grateful for today?

So now that I’ve caught up, I can move on to more exciting posts. Like DIY projects and New Years Resolutions (ugh…)
